Diana Howes joined Cathy for a thoughtful and energizing conversation about reinvention, movement, and choosing joy in retirement. What began as a simple effort to strengthen her knees unexpectedly led her to Argentine tango, a passion that now brings her regular exercise, meaningful community, and what she lightheartedly calls “eight hugs a day.”
After building a career in insurance and investments, Diana made an early shift into remote bookkeeping long before working from home became common. That decision gave her the flexibility to relocate whenever family needed her, from Charlotte to Los Angeles, supporting her children and spending time with her grandchildren. With little more than a suitcase and a storage unit, she designed a life built on simplicity, mobility, and connection.
Diana shares her philosophy of “growing younger,” a mindset rooted in staying physically active, eating whole foods, remaining curious, and engaging with people across generations. For her, aging is not about slowing down. It is about staying in motion, both mentally and physically.
Now, with humor and determination, she has set a new goal: to become a dancer everyone wants to dance with.
